This is the first icon in a series. Some will use the paperwhimsy Automaton Form
and some will be very different as you can see from the piece below.
This piece began with a photo that was printed onto Transfer Paper and ironed onto fabric. I embroidered the face, then the hair. Next, I painted some areas with metallic paint, and added the beads and embellishments. Finally it was wrapped around a 6″ x 8″ x 2″ deep gesso board surface.
Freaky or pretty? I’ve had comments saying both things. I think some tension in a piece is a good thing. What do you think?

They are both beautiful but the stitched one has that extra element of spookiness that I really like.

I really love the first one, but the second one is so fascinating to look at-fab stitching and compositions Theresa!

I admire the balance you are achieving between creepy and lovely. That’s my favorite line in the sand!
