Mixed Media Eye Token Workshop with theresa mARTin
Saturday, February 10, 2017
10:00 am – 2:30 pm, ½ hour lunch break
All Supplies Provided! In the 18th and 19th century, Lover’s Eye Tokens were popular with the wealthy. A miniaturist painted just the eyes of a lover, preserving anonymity… thus the recipient alone knew the identity of the person depicted. The tokens were often elaborately decorated and worn as bracelets, brooches or pendants. Create your own version using a love token form, beads, pearls, rhinestones, and an eye portrait. Class fee, $45.00 + supply/kit fee of $25.00, which includes all necessary supplies; students will have a choice of materials and colors. Sizes of the eye tokens range between 2 in. x 21⁄8 in. to 3 in. x 2 in.
Note: Although supplies are provided, feel free to bring in assorted beads, charms and embellishments from your stash to supplement or to add an even more personal touch. View a variety of tokens made by theresa mARTin on her pinterest board and visit her blog here and here for additional information and inspiring photos from previous sessions of this class.
Here’s an assortment of photos from the third Eye Token Class held at Artistic Artifacts. There are some in process photos as well as photos of some of the finished pieces. A grand time was had by all. I loved watching everyone work and isn’t their work beautiful?
If you want to make your own, you can get the token forms here at paperwhimsy.com
If you want to take the class, we’ll be having it again in Spring at Artistic Artifacts, Alexandria, VA.
It’s satisfying to complete a stack of ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards). I’m looking forward to the ones I will get in return. This is for the JAMs meeting, Sunday, October 15th at Artistic Artifacts at 1:00pm. If you’re in the area, come join us.
FROM ARTISTIC ARTIFACTS WEBSITE: JAMs is Judy’s Altered Minds and is open to anyone interested in Altered Art — both fabric and non fabric art. There is a sit fee of $3.00 per person. We start with ATC Trade at 1:00, group meeting and announcements. Then one show and tell item. We try to arrange a demo, informational part of each meeting.
The images I used in the ATC’s are from paperwhimsy.com
A little bit of spray paint, some crackle finish, acrylic paint, a brad and some nickel charms make up the latest paperwhimsy design team piece. To read more about how I made this, please visit the paperwhimsy inspire blog HERE.
